The Importance of Being Little: What Young Children Really Need From Grownups.
A former preschool director and faculty member of the Yale Child Study Center, Erika’s current focus is the early detection of reading difficulties and how that intersects with poverty, trauma and fissures in relationships and families.
In addition to being a dyslexia practitioner, Erika advocates for best early years learning
practices and closing the gap between what scientists know about literacy and what parents and teachers know.
As part of our Little Lockdowners webinar, Erika discusses long-standing concerns in early childhood education, and the importance of being reacquainted with basic principles of human development, the rhythm of childhood, hands-on activities and the power of relationships as fuel for young children’s learning.
