Christmas is an exciting time of year, as children look forward to time with their loved ones and enjoying activities both in and out of school.
December is a great time to take part in arts and crafts activities and, in this blog, we will explore how to use Tuff Trays to create Snowflake Hangers in time for Christmas.
This activity can support with children’s vocabulary, helping with counting, and recognising colours and sounds.
What you’ll need for this activity
The ‘Snowflake Christmas hangers’ activity is easy to set-up and only requires a few materials to get going.
You will need:
- Lollipop sticks
- White and blue acrylic paint
- White pom poms
- PVA glue
- Pipe cleaners
- String
Completing the Activity
The setup encourages creativity as the children build and decorate their snowflakes, with plenty of PVA glue to hold everything in place.
To add a sensory element, sprinkle fake snow sprinkles across the tuff spot, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Takeaways for Practitioners
As they craft, the children are encouraged to share their thoughts about what Christmas time looks like in their own homes and how it might differ for others. This activity not only fosters creativity but also helps build communication and understanding among the children.
