Meet Podcast Guest: Simon Airey

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Simon Airey has over 20 years’ experience in education. Teaching across a variety of year groups and settings, Simon has taught each year group as a class teacher and a visiting teacher from Nursery to Year 4.

Facilitating open-ended play experiences

Simon has also worked in specialist provision and has been a subject lead for Mathematics and Computing, as well as an EYFS Phase Leader.

Simon is passionate about all children having opportunities to access the whole curriculum. Having a strong interest in EYFS and SEND has enabled Simon to develop provision in order to facilitate open ended play as well as key life skills.

Simon enjoys the challenge of thinking of ways in which the teaching and learning can be presented to the children so that they are engaged and enthused.

As a contributor to our new TTS Talking podcast series, Simon discusses the importance of imaginative role-play in the Early Years. Reflecting on his SEND provision, Simon also explores ways to create language-rich opportunities for all children.
